Jemal & Kinte

A spectacular and magical wedding at the fabulous Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta.

How does one begin life with their soulmate? What is the “best” way? For Jemal and Kinte, it began with excitement, creativity, and genuine heartfelt love from Day One!

Jemal and Kinte’s journey to a lifelong commitment began in 2012 when they met during their first date and cuddled up to an Avengers movie. It is incredibly refreshing to see a couple meet the old-fashioned way in today’s day and age, on an in-person first date, free of the internet and social media interference. As the days and months slipped by, as they often do when you find your soulmate, Jemal and Kinte’s love for each other became undeniable, leading to Kinte arranging a surprise proposal under the guise of his own 42nd birthday party.

According to Jemal, “Kinte had our family fly up for the party and proposal. He had me and two others play a guessing game that required us to take a double shot, spin around, and glance back quickly behind you to see who could guess how many people were behind you. Of course, I was last to go! After my final spin, I was face-to-face with Kinte, on one knee asking me to marry him!” From that point forward, a whirlwind of wedding preparation and planning followed, culminating in a wedding for the ages!

On June 28, 2020, Jemal and Kinte sealed their bond in loving matrimony at the fabulous Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Built in 1924, this magnificent venue served as a prime destination for Atlanta’s business, political and social elite. Featuring original handcrafted plaster ceilings, restored crystal chandeliers, Palladian windows, and Tennessee marble floors, the Biltmore set the stage and served as a truly spectacular backdrop for Jemal and Kinte’s wedding.

The picturesque wedding venue included a striking circular Chupa with white drapes accented with white roses suspended from the ceiling and placed in the center of the ballroom. Golden Chiavari chairs filled the room, making the Chupa the center of attention. Every other row of chairs was book-ended by golden stands with candles and two-tiered white floral arrangements.

The reception venue left us breathless! The sweetheart table was a golden table set with a table length white floral arrangement that dropped to the floor on one side. The sweetheart table’s crisscrossed golden drapery backdrop-wall included a golden Chupa with chandelier, a white rose floral arrangement as its base, and candelabra lighting that ran the length of the wall. A beautifully designed Four-Tier gold and white wedding cake atop a round golden pedestal table sat just off to the left of the sweetheart table. The King’s Table had three large stunning centerpieces with golden towers adorned with dangling crystal beads and three-tiers of white and pale yellow flowers. Large crystal candelabras in multiple sizes encompassed the length of the table, providing an added layer of class and style. The place settings on every table included glass chargers with golden trim and golden flatware. It was a reception hall fit for KINGS.

The grooms wore ornate white tuxedos with gold accents, creating an almost dreamlike quality. That, coupled with the inclusion of beautiful groomsmaids dressed in cream-colored evening gowns and handsome groomsmen dressed in blue tuxedos, created a magical wedding experience that everyone will surely remember for a lifetime. Jemal and Kinte exchanged personally written vows, expressing their love, admiration, and devotion to each other, followed by the exchange of a pair of exquisite multi-stone rings, and finally, the wedding kiss, which prompted a massive eruption of applause from all in attendance. When they walked down the aisle as husband and husband, there was not one dry eye in the Biltmore.

As with all lavish weddings, a fantastic reception followed. The celebration included an amazing dinner, tales of love, speeches, and acknowledgments from friends and family. After the formal festivities, it was on to the dance floor, where the grooms danced their first dance. As custom and maternal love dictated, the grooms then danced with the most important women in the world, their mothers. But the night was just getting started, and the dance floor became a free-for-all of every dance move imaginable, including line dances! Undeniably, everyone who attended Jemal and Kinte’s wedding had an amazing and memorable time.

Congratulations, Jemal and Kinte, from Black Gay Weddings, and here’s to a long, happy, and prosperous life together.
